FAQ:

What is Oz! The Musical? The timeless “Wizard of Oz” tale has been adapted into a dazzling musical. A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz. When Dorothy’s house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch’s powerful silver slippers. From there, Baum’s lovable characters — rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin Woodsman — join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz. While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister.

How does camp work? Each day of camp campers will be dropped off at the studio and rehearse from 8am-4pm. Campers will have 3 public performances following camp at John Boy Auditorium.

What time does camp start? We begin at 8am but campers can arrive starting at 7:30am. Our day ends at 4pm, but campers may stay until 5:30pm.

Is lunch included? Lunch is not included. Campers should bring a packed lunch or have lunch brought/delivered at noon each day. They will have access to a fridge but will NOT have access to reheat food.

Are auditions mandatory? Auditions are not mandatory but campers who do not audition will be cast as ensemble. Video auditions can be sent to atatheatreco@gmail.com

What happens if my child isn't cast in the show but I've already paid my deposit? ALL campers are cast. Ash To Art Theatre operates on a first come, first serve basis. Once your deposit is paid, your child is part of the show.

Why audition if everyone is cast? Auditions are used for our creative team to get a head start on the show. If we waited until the first day of camp to cast we are losing a whole day of working on the show.

Is camp attendance mandatory? Camp attendance is mandatory June 26-28. While attendance to camp is important, we understand that certain things come up. Appointments, planned vacation, etc. Please let our staff know ASAP if your child will be missing any part of camp. If a cast member has frequent absences that impact the development of the show rehearsals or performances, we may need to reassess their role and, if necessary, reassign parts to ensure the show runs smoothly.
